Pastoral Profile

We will only consider someone who meets the biblical qualifications for pastoral ministry as given in the Bible (1 Tim. 3; Titus 1; etc.). We also expect any candidate to endorse our constitution and doctrinal statement. In addition to these stipulations, we desire a man who meets the following criteria. These are merely preferences based on what we perceive would be the greatest benefit to our local church. We will not exclude anyone if he does not match all of these preferences but the closer he is to our ideal, the better.

1. We prefer a man who is evangelistically active and missions minded.
2. We prefer a man who values the place of prayer and the ministry of the Word of God in a successful ministry.
3. We prefer a man who is conservative in his view of worship and music.
4. We prefer a man who has strong leadership ability but views the pastoral role as shepherd rather than dictator.
5. We prefer a man who views youth ministry as discipleship rather than entertainment.
6. We prefer a man who values the wisdom of mature believers in the local church.
7. We prefer a man who has a vision for mentoring.
8. We prefer a man who is not KJV only.
9. We prefer a man who has good administrative skills.
10. We prefer a man who has at least an MDiv degree.
11. We prefer a man who has had some senior pastor experience or has comparable associate pastor experience.
12. We prefer a man who is married.
13. We prefer a man who is in his mid-30’s to mid-50’s.
14. We prefer a man who can work peaceably with Maranatha Baptist Bible College & Seminary while maintaining the autonomy of Fellowship Baptist Church.
15. We prefer a man who supports Christian education of children.
16. We prefer a man who is committed to an expository style of preaching.
